As the Dubai Basketball first team embark on a historic campaign against Europe’s elite, a new generation of talent is rising in parallel, proudly flying Dubai’s flag and redefining the future of the sport in the UAE.

The Dubai Basketball Under-18 Elite Team has been officially confirmed to compete in the Men’s UAE Basketball Association alongside local favourites including Al Wasl, Shabab Al Ahly and Al Wahda. As the only junior team participating in the national league, the Dubai Basketball U18 Elite Team made an immediate statement, securing a commanding victory over Abu Dhabi’s Al Jazira in their inaugural matchup, a debut that signals the beginning of a bold new chapter.

Over the past year, the U18 squad has continued to build momentum on the international stage, claiming their first tournament title at the prestigious Kvarner 2025 Invitational Tournament in Croatia. This success reflects the programme’s wider mission: to nurture talent and establish a clear pathway for young athletes to progress into professional basketball, both locally and internationally.

Head Coach Irhad Tinjak shared his vision for the team, stating,  “Our ambition goes far beyond results on court. This team represents the future of basketball in the country. The focus lies on building character, discipline and an passion for the game, while inspiring young athletes to believe they belong on the biggest stages.”

“Even as one of the youngest sides in the league, the squad continues to prove its quality, resilience and hunger. Every game is a statement that Dubai Basketball is developing players capable of competing at the highest standards, both nationally and beyond.”

Further cementing its rapid rise, the U18 team has also been confirmed to participate in the U19 ABA League Tournament as the youngest team to compete in the league. The tournament is the official development platform of the Adriatic League, where the Dubai Basketball first team currently remains unbeaten.
