Dubai Basketball Club Community Guidelines

Effective Date: September 11, 2025

1. Purpose

Our Community Guidelines aim to create a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for all users worldwide, while complying with UAE cultural, ethical, and legal standards. All users must ensure their activities comply with the laws and regulations of the United Arab Emirates, including but not limited to the UAE Cybercrime Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021) and related legislation.

These Guidelines also align with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and are designed for global application, taking into account the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 โ€“ PDPL), applicable freeโ€‘zone frameworks (DIFC/ADGM), and, where relevant, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 โ€“ GDPR).

They apply to all community spaces in and around the Services, including profiles, chats, forums, group messaging, event pages, live streams, and any inโ€‘venue or clubโ€‘hosted events connected to the app.

2. Respect for Others

Treat all users with dignity and respect. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discriminatory language.

Disallowed conduct includes targeted harassment; slurs or negative stereotypes based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or medical condition; and demeaning or sexualized insults.

Do not engage in doxxing or threats (including implied threats), stalking, or unwanted sexual advances on or off the platform in connection with the Services.

When attending club events, you must comply with venue rules and lawful instructions from staff and security; abusive conduct toward staff, players, officials, or other attendees is prohibited.

3. Content Rules

Prohibited content includes:

  • Nudity, sexually explicit or violent material.
  • Hate speech, extremist or terrorist content.
  • Misinformation, fake news, or harmful rumors.
  • Insults toward religions, cultures, or national symbols (strictly prohibited under UAE law).
  • Promotion of illegal activities, drugs, weapons, gambling, or fraud.

In addition, we prohibit content that glorifies or incites violence; graphic gore; sexual exploitation or sexualization of minors; revenge porn or nonโ€‘consensual intimate imagery; and solicitation or distribution of CSAM.

Defamation, knowingly false allegations, and malicious fabrications about individuals or organizations are not allowed.

Do not post others’ personal data (including private images, addresses, or financial details) without explicit permission.

Spam, mass solicitation, pyramid schemes, and automated or deceptive engagement (e.g., bots, fake accounts, artificial amplification) are prohibited.

We restrict the posting or promotion of regulated goods or services (alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs) and prohibit facilitation of illegal ticket scalping or fraudulent promotions.

Political or religious content must comply with applicable law and our Terms; content insulting religions or national symbols is strictly prohibited under UAE law.

AIโ€‘generated or manipulated media that materially misleads about realโ€‘world events or people must be clearly labeled as synthetic; deepfakes that impersonate real persons without disclosure, or that cause harm, are prohibited.

4. Intellectual Property

  • Do not post content you do not own or lack rights to share.
  • Respect third-party copyrights and trademarks.

You are responsible for ensuring you have all necessary rights, permissions, and licenses to upload or stream content, including music and footage used in highlight reels or live streams.

Repeat IP infringers may face escalating enforcement up to account termination. Rights holders may submit notices through our IP complaint channel described in the Terms of Use.

5. Safety

  • Do not share personal or confidential data of others.
  • No scams, phishing, or impersonation.

Impersonation of individuals, players, staff, brands, or public institutions is prohibited; parody or fan accounts must be clearly labeled and must not mislead other users.

Content that promotes selfโ€‘harm, suicide, or eating disorders is not allowed. Supportive, recoveryโ€‘oriented discussion is permitted but may be redirected to professional resources.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. You may also report concerns to us so we can take proportionate action, including welfare checks where legally permissible.

6. Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  • Content removal.
  • Warnings or temporary restrictions.
  • Permanent account ban.
  • Referral to authorities if legally required under UAE law.

We use a graduated enforcement model based on severity, intent, user history, and risk of harm. We may limit features (e.g., messaging, posting), place readโ€‘only mode, require content removal or training prompts, or temporarily suspend accounts. Severe or repeated violations can lead to permanent bans.

We preserve relevant data where legally required or where necessary to investigate harms, enforce our rights, or comply with lawful requests.

Where feasible and lawful, we will notify you of enforcement actions and provide a brief rationale.

7. Reporting and Appeals

  • Users may report content or behavior via our in-app reporting tools or by contacting [email protected].
  • Appeals to moderation decisions can be submitted via the same contact method.

Reports should include URLs, screenshots, timestamps, and a description of the issue. Submitting false or badโ€‘faith reports may itself violate these Guidelines.

We aim to review most reports within a reasonable period, prioritizing imminent harm. Appeal requests must be submitted within a defined window stated in the notice; repeated or abusive appeals may be declined.

Decisions on appeals will be communicated with a short explanation; where we reverse a decision, we will restore content where feasible.

8. Minors & Youth Protection

The Services are not directed to children under 16. Where minors aged 16โ€“17 are permitted by law to use the Services with parental consent, additional safeguards apply. Content involving minors must be handled with heightened care and must never sexualize or exploit children. Communications with minors should remain appropriate, professional, and supervised where applicable.

9. Events, Meetups & IRL Conduct

When participating in club events, meetups, training, or matches organized or endorsed by the Club, you must follow venue rules, safety instructions, and applicable laws. Possession of prohibited items, aggressive behavior, pitch invasion, harassment of players or officials, and unauthorized commercial activities are grounds for removal and further enforcement.

10. Advertising, Promotions & Commerce

Users may not run lotteries, contests, or giveaways without our prior written approval and compliance with applicable laws. Sponsored content must be clearly disclosed. Affiliate links, sales, or promotions must comply with our Terms and local advertising rules; deceptive or undisclosed endorsements are prohibited.

11. AIโ€‘Generated Content & Synthetic Media

If you share AIโ€‘generated content, you must label it clearly when a reasonable user could be misled. Synthetic media that fabricates real persons’ speech or likeness without disclosure is prohibited, especially where it risks reputational harm, voter interference, or public safety issues. We may remove unlabeled synthetic media and apply account restrictions.

12. Transparency & Moderator Guidance

We strive for consistent enforcement and publish periodic transparency summaries about content removals and account actions in aggregated form where feasible. Our moderators are trained to consider context, satire, education, and newsworthiness, while prioritizing user safety and legal compliance.

13. Data & Privacy Alignment

Community interactions are subject to our Privacy Policy. We process reports, enforcement data, and related metadata under lawful bases such as legitimate interests and legal obligations, consistent with the PDPL and, where applicable, the GDPR. We minimize retention and restrict access to personnel with a needโ€‘toโ€‘know.

14. Updates

These Guidelines may be updated. We will notify users of significant changes.

Material updates will be communicated inโ€‘app or by email with the effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Where required by law, we will seek renewed consent.
