Dubai Basketball’s First Half Lead Not Enough To Hold Off Real Madrid
Dubai fell 107:93 to Real Madrid in Round 19 of the EuroLeague after holding a 14-point lead at halftime. The visitors shot well from distance early, with Dwayne Bacon scoring 16 of his 26 points in the first half and Aleksa Avramoviฤ adding 13. Real Madrid came back strongly in the second half, led by Mario Hezonja with 20 points, to overtake Dubai and secure the win.
Dubai opened the game aggressively, connecting on six of eleven three-point attempts in the first half and building a 44:58 advantage. Baconโs early scoring and effective team play allowed the visitors to dictate the pace and create what appeared to be a comfortable lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw a complete turnaround. Real Madrid adjusted defensively, limiting Dubaiโs driving lanes, contesting shots, and forcing turnovers. A 16:4 run immediately after halftime erased Dubaiโs lead, and the hosts outscored the visitors 62:35 in the second half, leaving Dubai unable to respond despite continuing to hit from long range.
Dwayne Bacon finished with 26 points, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, while Aleksa Avramoviฤ contributed 13 points and seven assists. McKinley Wright added 14 points and six assists, but the team was unable to sustain its first-half momentum as Real Madridโs adjustments turned the game in their favor.
