Dubai, 25 August 2025: Dubai Basketball have added another major name to their EuroLeague debut roster with the arrival of Dwayne Bacon. 

The American guard-forward, who played four seasons in the NBA has since built a strong reputation in Europe with standout stints at Monaco and Panathinaikos. He now joins Dubai following an impressive season in Russia, bringing valuable EuroLeague experience with him.

“I’m feeling good. I just came off a great season in Russia, so to come here back in EuroLeague is exciting,” Bacon said. “I’ve done good things in EuroLeague, but I’m looking to really stamp it and push forward with this new opportunity and this new journey.”

Bacon sees parallels between Dubai Basketball’s debut and his own past experience. “I was on Monaco’s team their first year in EuroLeague. I look at it the same way here. We have the talent; we’ve got everything we need. The Staff, the city, everything is amazing. Now all we have to do is put the work in, collide as one, and compete at the highest level.”

Bacon believes Dubai’s 2025/26 roster has the potential to surprise the world, “Nobody expected us to come into EuroLeague. But we’ve got the guys, we’ve got the talent, and we’re going to put in the time. I think the right team has been put together to come as one and do whatever it takes to win.”

Asked about his personal role, Bacon made his approach clear, “Those guys want me to just be the guy I am. I have an all-around game. I can do whatever I’m needed to do. I like to win, I like to compete hard, and I like to make everybody around me better. At all costs, I just want to win.”

Looking ahead to the season, Bacon set ambitious goals, “The only goal I have is to make the playoffs in the first year, just to make a statement. Of course, I want to win a EuroLeague championship. It’s time to get some hardware. But as a team, it’s all about wins. There’s never enough wins you can have. When we win, everybody gets the glory.”

Bacon also had a message for fans ahead of the historic season, “Stick with us through the ups and downs. It’s going to be very exciting. You’ll get a chance to watch great players compete here, and to watch us compete across Europe. I can’t wait to play the first game in Dubai and see how electric the fans are; that gives me my rush in the game. Stay patient; everything’s going to come together with time. We’re here now.”
