Dubai Basketball’s U18 Elite Program team wrapped up an impressive showing at the Bridge of Hoops tournament in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, where they went head-to-head with some of the strongest U19 teams from Europe and the United States.

Over three consecutive days, the team faced elite competition including Star Alliance Italy, Olimpia Milano, Zalgiris Kaunas, DNA Prep, Academy of Central Florida, Southeastern Prep Academy, and Prolific Prep. Despite competing with the youngest roster in the tournament and missing three key players, Dubai Basketball secured two strong wins and suffered only one narrow five-point loss to Star Alliance Italy – a game in which 17 missed free throws proved costly.

Led by Head Coach Irhad Tinjak, the squad demonstrated exceptional character – mounting impressive comebacks in both their first and third games. Reflecting on the team’s performance, Coach Tinjak said, ““The boys did really well this week. They showed discipline and growth in every game. We know where we can improve, and now our focus shifts to Croatia. Each tournament is a step forward in building our identity and developing as a team.”

The team represents the first-ever squad from the UAE to be represented in the Bassano del Grappo tournament, marking a monumental moment for the city of Dubai.

Next, the team heads to Croatia for the Kvarner 2025 Invitational on October 27 and 28 in Rijeka. Another exciting challenge awaits, as Dubai Basketball continues to compete among the best teams in the world while representing the city on the international stage.
