Dubai Basketball U18 Elite team centre Bacary Doucoure played a key role in Senegal’s run to the silver medal at the FIBA U18 AfroBasket 2026, helping his national team reach the tournament final and finish as runners-up.

The 15-year-old centre featured in all six of Senegal’s games throughout the competition, averaging 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, while playing an average of 20.7 minutes per game. Doucoure’s presence in the paint proved valuable as Senegal advanced through the knockout stages and secured a place in the championship game.

Senegal opened the tournament with two wins in the group phase, defeating Rwanda 78:38 before overcoming Tunisia 55:34. They narrowly missed out on a perfect group-stage record after falling 49:46 to Cameroon, finishing second in Group C.

In the quarter-finals, Senegal continued their push for the title with a 54:40 victory over Madagascar. Doucoure and his teammates then produced a closely contested semi-final against Mali, edging their opponents 55:51 to book their place in the final.

Senegal faced Côte d’Ivoire in the championship game, where they ultimately fell 73:51 to finish the tournament as runners-up.

Doucoure’s performances at the FIBA U18 AfroBasket 2026 mark another valuable international experience for the Dubai Basketball U18 Elite centre, as he continues to develop on the international stage while representing Senegal.
