Dubai Basketball suffered a 93โ80 road defeat to Cedevita Olimpija in Round 2 of the AdmiralBet ABA League Top 8 phase, marking only the teamโs second loss of the season in regional competition.
The game was competitive throughout much of the first half, with Dubai staying close and briefly moving in front during the second quarter. Cedevita Olimpija held a narrow early advantage, but Dubai responded before the end of the opening period when team captain Klemen Prepeliฤ tied the score with a three-pointer. At the start of the second quarter, Prepeliฤ connected again from long range to give Dubai a 30โ29 lead.
Dubai later built a four-point advantage midway through the second quarter behind the scoring of Dลพanan Musa. However, the hosts regained control late in the half with a short run that included consecutive three-pointers, allowing them to enter the break with a 50โ46 lead.
Cedevita Olimpija extended their advantage early in the third quarter, pushing the margin to eight points after several long-range shots. Dubai responded with a 9โ0 run to reclaim the lead, but the home side answered before the end of the quarter to move back in front. After three quarters, Dubai trailed by four points at 68โ64, keeping the game within reach heading into the final period.
The decisive stretch came midway through the fourth quarter when Cedevita Olimpija extended their lead with two consecutive three-pointers. The gap soon grew to nine points after a mid-range basket from Cameron Houindo, before the hosts pushed the margin into double digits with less than three minutes remaining. That advantage proved enough to secure the 93โ80 result.
All 12 players scored tonight for Dubai Basketball, Dลพanan Musa led the way with 15 points and 3 assists, while Mfiondu Kabengele dropped 14 points and pulled down 3 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Dubai remains among the leading teams in the AdmiralBet ABA League standings with a 16โ2 record. The game represented a tightly contested matchup for most of the night before the hosts pulled away in the closing minutes.
