Dubai Basketball suffered defeat in Podgorica, as Budućnost VOLI prevailed 91:90 in Game 2 of the 2025/26 ABA League Semi-Finals to tie the series at 1-1. Despite a huge comeback attempt by our team in the final quarter, the winner will now be decided in the decisive Game 3 that will be played in Zenica on Thursday, May 28.

The opening half brought a highly competitive battle in which neither side managed to create any serious separation. The first quarter ended all tied at 25:25, while the hosts entered halftime with a slim 4-point advantage – 46:42.

The third quarter, however, belonged to the Podgorica side. Budućnost VOLI found their offensive rhythm and scored 31 points in the period to enter the final quarter with a double-digit lead – 77:65.

Still, our boys once again showed the character and fighting spirit that have defined this team all season long. A quick 5:0 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter immediately reduced the deficit to single digits, while the comeback was completed midway through the period when we tied the score at 83:83 with just three minutes remaining.

The hosts responded with a 5:0 run of their own to regain control at 88:83, while then came the spectacular stretch from Mfiondu Kabengele. Our big man took over in crunch time, scoring 7 consecutive points and answering every important basket from the home side. His difficult three-pointer with just over 30 seconds left reduced the deficit to a single point – 91:90.

Our defense then delivered one final stop and gave us the opportunity to win the game at the buzzer. Unfortunately, Justin Anderson’s potential game-winning three-pointer did not go in, and the score remained 91:90 in favor of the hosts.

Mfiondu Kabengele delivered a dominant performance for our team with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Dwayne Bacon marked his return from injury with 15 points, while Džanan Musa added 13 points.
